Gallo-Roman site at Pouillé

The site at Pouilléis closely linked to its neighbour at Thésée, an ancient village of potters. Some of its features, notably the fanum, have been preserved.

The temple was excavated between 1974 and 1982.

The remains, dated to the late first century, can be seen at the Gallo-Roman Museum of Thésée. The temple was dedicated to the goddess of water - perhaps that of the river Cher - probably for its healing powers.
